What we hold, what we cut, what it costs

Everything a buyer checks before sending a machine part drawing. Unless the drawing says otherwise we machine to ISO 2768-m and hold ±0.005 mm on toleranced features.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask first

The questions engineers and buyers send us before a first machine parts order.

What are custom machine parts?
Mechanical components made to your drawing rather than bought from a catalogue — shafts, gears, couplings, bearing housings, valve bodies and manifolds. They are CNC machined from solid bar, billet or castings so that material, tolerance and finish match the machine they go into.
How do I order custom machine parts from China?
Send a STEP or IGES model, or a dimensioned 2D drawing, with the material, quantity and tolerance you need. You get a quote and lead time within 24 hours plus free design-for-manufacturability feedback. We machine a first article, send you the inspection report, and release the balance of the run once you sign it off.
Which machine parts do you make most often?
Shafts, gears, couplings, bearing housings, pump and gearbox housings, and hydraulic valve bodies and manifolds make up most of the machine parts we ship. Each family appears in the catalogue above with its usual material, process and tolerance — but any machine part you can draw can be quoted.
What tolerances do your custom machine parts hold?
Unless the drawing says otherwise we machine custom machine parts to ISO 2768-m and hold ±0.005 mm on toleranced features. Bearing seats, gear bores and sealing diameters can be held to ±0.001 mm where they need it, and anything tighter than ±0.01 mm is CMM-verified and reported with the shipment.
Which materials are best for machine parts?
Alloy steels such as 4140 and 4340 suit shafts, gears and couplings; 303, 304 and 316L stainless suit pump and valve work; 6061-T6 and 7075-T6 aluminium suit housings and manifolds; and C932 bronze suits bushings. Titanium, Inconel and PEEK are available when a machine part needs low weight, heat resistance or electrical insulation.
Can you make replacement machine parts for obsolete machinery?
Yes. One-off replacement machine parts for obsolete machinery are routine work. Send a drawing if you have one; if not, send the worn machine part and we reverse-engineer it on the CMM, then confirm the measured model with you before any metal is cut.
Do you supply machine parts for OEM production?
Yes. OEMs and machine builders reorder the same drawings with us, so the programmes, fixtures and inspection plans for their machine parts stay on file for repeat runs. Quantities run from a single spare to 10,000+ units, with the same first-article and documentation standard at every quantity.
How are machine parts inspected before shipping?
Critical features on every machine part are checked against the drawing on the CMM, and a first article report is signed off before the balance of the run is released. EN 10204 3.1 material certificates, the inspection report and a certificate of conformance ship with every order.
Can you heat treat or plate machine parts?
Yes. Through hardening, case hardening, nitriding, anodising, passivation, electropolishing and zinc, nickel or chrome plating are all offered — the finishes table above lists the added lead time for each. Tell us which machine part dimensions must hold their fit after plating and we machine them undersize to suit.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No. One prototype through to 10,000+ units, with the same inspection and documentation at any quantity. Unit price falls steepest between 1 and 50 pieces, because setup, programming and fixturing are amortised across the run.
What drives the cost of a machine part?
Quantity, material, tolerance, geometry and finish — roughly in that order. Titanium and Inconel can be ten times the stock cost of aluminium, and anything tighter than ±0.01mm adds inspection time. Loosening non-critical tolerances is usually the cheapest change a drawing can make.
How long does it take to get custom machine parts?
3–5 business days for prototypes and 10–15 days for production runs, measured from drawing approval, with 48-hour express available. Exotic alloys, heat treatment and third-party plating are the usual reasons a quote comes back longer.
What file formats do you accept?
STEP (.step, .stp) and IGES are preferred for 3D. We also accept SolidWorks, Parasolid and STL, plus 2D drawings as PDF or DWG. A model alone carries no tolerance intent — send a drawing with it, or everything is machined to ISO 2768-m.
Do you ship custom machine parts internationally?
Yes. DHL, FedEx and air freight to more than 50 countries, including the USA, Germany, the UK, Canada, Japan and Australia, with commercial invoice, packing list and certificates of origin on every shipment.
How do you protect our drawings and designs?
We sign your NDA before quoting, or provide ours. Files are shared only with the engineers and machinists working on the job and are never used as sales samples. Tooling and fixtures made for your parts stay dedicated to your parts.
Can you make a part if we have no drawing?
Yes. Send the worn or broken part and we measure it on the CMM, produce a dimensioned drawing and a 3D model, and confirm both with you before cutting metal. Common with obsolete machinery whose original supplier no longer exists.
Get a quote

Send your drawing, get a quote in 24 hours

Upload a STEP, IGES, DWG or PDF and an engineer — not a sales rep — comes back within 24 hours with a price, a lead time and free design-for-manufacturability feedback.

How ordering works

  1. Send your drawing

Upload a STEP or IGES model and, ideally, a 2D drawing carrying tolerances, surface finish and material. No drawing? Send the physical part and we will reverse-engineer it on the CMM.

  2. Quote and DFM feedback within 24 hours

You get a unit price at your quantity, a lead time, and a short list of anything on the drawing that is driving cost unnecessarily. There is no charge for this and no obligation.

  3. Order confirmation and material release

We confirm material grade, heat number source and finishing scope in writing before buying stock. For repeat work we hold material so the second order runs faster.

  4. First article inspection

We machine one part, measure it against your drawing on the CMM and send you the report. Nothing else is cut until you approve it.

  5. Production run and in-process control

Critical dimensions are checked at set frequency through the run, with SPC data on volume orders. Any drift is corrected before it becomes a batch of scrap.

  6. Final inspection, documentation and dispatch

Final CMM report, EN 10204 3.1 material certificate, certificate of conformity and any RoHS, REACH or PPAP paperwork travel with the shipment via DHL, FedEx or air freight.

  • No minimum order — 1 piece to 10,000+
  • Free DFM review with every quote
  • NDA signed before you send anything, on request
  • DHL, FedEx and air freight to 50+ countries
