CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining is a subtractive manufacturing process where pre-programmed software controls machine tools to remove material with extraordinary precision. What materials can you CNC machine at MW+?
MW+ machines 50+ engineering-grade materials: aluminum alloys (6061-T6, 7075-T6), titanium (Grade 2 and 5, Ti-6Al-4V), stainless steel (303, 304, 316L, 17-4 PH), Inconel 625/718, Hastelloy C-276, cobalt-chrome, copper, brass, and medical plastics including PEEK, Ultem 1010, PTFE, and Delrin. All materials sourced with full mill certification and traceability documentation.
How long does CNC machining take? What is the lead time?
Standard lead time is 5 business days for prototypes (1–10 pieces). Volume production runs 10–15 business days. 48-hour express service is available for urgent projects at a premium. Quote response is guaranteed within 24 hours of receiving your CAD files, including free DFM feedback and material recommendations.
Is MW+ ISO 9001 and AS9100D certified for aerospace machining?
Yes. MW+ MetalWorks Plus holds ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D Aerospace Quality Management System certifications, independently audited annually. We are also ITAR-registered for defense contracts. Every order includes Certificate of Conformance (COC), CMM inspection reports, and material certifications. First Article Inspection per AS9102 and full SPC data are available on request.

What file formats does MW+ accept for CNC machining quotes?
MW+ accepts STEP (.stp), IGES (.igs), DXF, SolidWorks (.sldprt), AutoCAD, and PDF technical drawings. STEP format is preferred for 3D solid models as it provides the most complete geometric data. Contact our engineering team if you have files in other CAD formats — we can work with most major systems.
What is the minimum order quantity for CNC machining?
MW+ accepts orders from 1 piece (prototype) to 100,000+ pieces (high-volume production). The same CNC machining setup, quality standards, and documentation apply at every volume level. Free DFM engineering review is included on all orders regardless of quantity.
Does MW+ offer DFM (Design for Manufacturability) review?
Yes — every quote from MW+ includes a complimentary DFM (Design for Manufacturability) review by our experienced CNC machining engineers. We identify features that may increase cost, suggest material optimizations, flag potential machining issues, and recommend tolerance adjustments — all before production begins and at no additional charge.
How does MW+ ensure quality on every CNC machining order?
MW+ uses Statistical Process Control (SPC) monitoring with Zeiss CMM verification at defined inspection intervals. ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D quality management systems govern every process from material receipt through final shipping. Process capability of Cpk ≥1.67 is maintained on critical dimensions. 100% inspection is performed before shipping — parts not meeting spec are remachined at our cost.
