What is CNC machining? A comprehensive guide

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining is a subtractive manufacturing process that uses pre‑programmed software to control machine tools.

Our CNC milling, turning, EDM, and laser machining centers transform solid blocks of metal, plastic, and composite materials into high-precision components with tolerances as tight as ±0.001 mm (1 micron). By converting 3D CAD models directly into machine-ready code (CAM), we minimize manual intervention, significantly reducing the risk of human error while ensuring consistent accuracy and repeatability throughout the entire production cycle. Our advanced 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC systems allow us to manufacture complex geometries, intricate features, and high-detail surfaces that would be difficult or impossible with conventional machining.

From first article inspection (FAI) to full-scale production batches exceeding 10,000+ units, our digital manufacturing workflow ensures every component meets strict quality standards. Integrated inspection equipment, including CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) and optical measurement systems, verifies dimensions at every stage, guaranteeing reliability and repeatability for industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and electronics..

Industries like aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and industrial equipment rely on CNC for its ability to produce complex geometries, excellent surface finishes, and material‑efficient parts. We support both prototyping and series manufacturing with full ISO 9001 quality management.

CNC machining – top FAQs

Quick answers to technical and commercial questions.

What tolerances can CNC machining achieve? +
Standard ±0.025 mm, high-precision ±0.005 mm, and we can reach ±0.001 mm for specific features with grinding/EDM. We regularly hold 5 µm on critical diameters.
What materials are best for CNC machining? +
Aluminum 6061, stainless 304, brass, Delrin, and PEEK are most common. Our engineers will advise based on strength, corrosion, cost – we also machine magnesium, tantalum, and CFRP.
CNC machining vs casting vs forging? +
CNC offers highest precision and complexity without tooling; casting for high volumes; forging for grain structure strength. We combine methods (cast then machined) for optimal results.
What lead time can I expect? +
Prototypes: 3–7 days, small batches: 1–2 weeks, production: 2–4 weeks (depending on quantity and finish). Expedited options available.
What factors affect CNC machining costs? +
Material selection, design complexity, tolerances, quantity, secondary operations (finishing, coating). We offer design suggestions to reduce cost without compromising function.
Do you provide material certification? +
Yes, all materials come with mill certificates (EN 10204 3.1). We also offer First Article Inspection reports per AS9102.
